Backbencher: Cameron 'will regret' backing gay church weddings

Tory backbencher Stewart Jackson said David Cameron risked undermining his own leadership by supporting gay church weddings:

I think it opens a can of worms that will lead to a great deal of social division.

I think it is something he will regret. There is no mandate for this. It was not in our election manifesto. It is being foisted on the Conservative Party.

David Cameron has got to think of his leadership and this will do him no good.
